New GM cars for sale, auto insurance included

In addition to airbags, satellite radio, and OnStar, some new GM vehicles will also come with free auto insurance for one year.

GM vehicle sales increased dramatically this year, but they’re still sluggish in Washington and Oregon. To give sales in the Pacific Northwest a boost, the auto manufacturer is offering a year’s worth of free auto insurance from MetLife Auto & Home as an incentive to car buyers in Washington and Oregon.

The new offer will apply to any new 2010, 2011, or 2012 Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, or Cadillac car, truck, or crossover purchased or leased between now and September 6 in those two states. Read more…

Online auto insurance activity stabilizes in 2010 after 2009 spike

Earlier this month, comScore, Inc. released its 2011 Online Auto Insurance Report, the results of which pointed to the stabilization of online auto insurance activity by consumers in 2010 after the big growth that was seen in the sector in 2009.

From 2008 to 2009, there was tremendous growth in consumer auto insurance activity online, as consumers submitted 21 percent more auto insurance quotes online and purchased 22 percent more policies year-over-year in that span.

    New online tool may help Ohioans compare auto insurance rates

    This week Mary Jo Hudson, director of Ohio’s Department of Insurance, announced a new online tool for state residents allowing them to compare auto insurance quotes from different auto coverage agencies.

    The new Auto Insurance Sample Premium Calculator allows consumers the ability to easily compare quotes and obtain contact information from different companies.

    Designed by the state’s insurance department and auto industry, the Sample Premium Calculator asks users a series of questions designed to lead them to the right coverage, Insurance Journal reports. This includes indicating to the program how a vehicle is used and the type of service desired.
