Chairman
The FSA today announced who will be the Chairman of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) for the next three years. Lawrence Churchill will take up the position on April 1, succeeding David hall.
Currently the Chairman of the National Employers Savings Trust, Churchill has an impressive resume which includes roles as Chief Executive of UK, Irish & International Life at Zurich Financial. He was also appointed a Commander of the British Empire in 2010 in recognition of his public service.

Head Litigation Litigation
Global insurer RSA has announced that it has appointed Will Bloomer as head of UK Litigation, with effect from 3 January 2012.
In his new role Bloomer takes on the oversight of the firms litigation management, and is directly responsible to UK General Counsel Neville Howe.
Bloomer is presently the general counsel at Gallagher Heath, the UK subsidiary of Arthur J Gallagher, and held the same post (and a directorship) previously at Heath Lambert, before it was acquired by AJG International earlier this year.
Howe welcomed Bloomer to his team, praising the extensive experience in both litigation and insurance that he brings to RSA.
Howe himself has expressed his delight at his new position, describing RSA as one of the leading lights of the industry.

The LA Times reports that the Obama administration is taking steps to ease some of the requirements of the health law in an effort to “prevent further backlash.” Also in the news, the latest on the essential benefits rule and more on the early retiree program.
