Providers of services such as landlords insurance will be interested in the latest figures published by LSL Property Services, which show that the average UK private sector rent dropped slightly in November, to 717 per month.
This tiny fall of 0.4% is the first drop in ten months, and can be explained by the fact that there is always less tenant demand in the run-up to Christmas, combined with reluctance on the part of landlords to leave their properties empty over the Christmas/New Year period.
Despite the slight drop in average rents, certain areas such as London continued on an upward curve – the average London rent rose by 0.3% in November, to 1,033.
